Biography
Dr Jane Henriksen-Bulmer works as a Principal Academic in Computing & Informatics Department at BU.
Her research is focused on privacy, GDPR, cybersecurity, risk and organisational decision making and, how novice users can safely navigate online interactions and digital privacy.
Dr Henriksen-Bulmer has contributed to a number of prestigious cybersecurity research projects including the flagship H2020 ECHO cybersecurity pilot, and the IdealCities project, where her 7-DL Data Governance Lifecycle framework was adopted as the main Data Management plan for the Ideal Cities project (a H2020-MSCA-RISE-2017 project). She was also instrumental in organising and delivering the UK's first online cybersecurity training modules targeted for students in collaboration with KnowBe4. This pilot project gave every BU student (18k students) the opportunity to learn about cybersecurity for free, something unique to BU that no other university offers to our knowledge.
More recently Dr Henriksen-Bulmer has worked on various projects developing and delivering cybersecurity and privacy awareness training to a non-technical audience so that they can be better prepared in handling incidents when they occur... As part of this, she is one of the research partners in Cyber Innovations, a pre-spinout from Bournemouth University that will continue taking this work forward.
Coming from an industry background Dr Henriksen-Bulmer has wide-ranging experience of business including working as a paralegal; data management, and standard creation which has strongly influenced her choice of research topics.
moreResearch
Successfully completed my PhD on privacy, GDPR, risk and organisational decision making. This involved looking at privacy, risk and how businesses can embed privacy by design and default and contextual nuances into their privacy and risk decision making processes.
Dt Henriksen-Bulmer's research focus is on privacy and cyber security, exploring how privacy and security can be incorporated into organisational decision making by design and default. She has been involved in a number of funded projects around privacy, cybersecurity and commercialisation of research. She has also collaborated on several European projects on privacy and cybersecurity, such as ECHO, Ideal Cities, CE-IoT, and CyberSure. She has also organised and run public and staff training sessions and workshops around privacy and more recently, psychological cyber resilience with Cyber First Aid.
