Abstract:

The personal tutor at BU plays a crucial role in supporting students' academic progress, personal development, and overall wellbeing. They provide guidance on unit choices, help address academic or personal challenges and often act as the first point of contact for pastoral care. Data is increasingly vital to their role, as it enables tutors to monitor students’ engagement, academic performance, attendance, and progression. Access to timely and relevant data helps tutors identify at-risk students early, tailor support interventions, and ensure no one falls through the cracks - making data an essential tool for effective, proactive student support.
